In 1980, the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry started in a janitor’s closet in Overland Presbyterian Church, which later became New Horizon’s Presbyterian Church, on Everman Ave. As the pantry grew to meet the community need, a new home was sought that would house the large amounts of food received twice weekly. The move happened on May 14, 2016, with 70 volunteers from Ritenour School District and the City of Overland helping to move all the shelves, refrigerators, and freezers to 9516 Rear Lackland Rd, two blocks away. Growth continued, and in March 2020, the current location at 9303 Midland Blvd became home.
The pantry offers food by choice to residents living within the Ritenour School District.
